AIDS come importazione occidentale in Cina

"In China, the media portray AIDS as an imported product from the West. When the first AIDS case was reported in an American patient who died in Beijing in 1985, he was reviled as a foreigner who was alleged to have engaged in 'abnormal' (homosexual) behaviors. After he died, his room was disinfected for twenty-four hours, and his clothes, the nurses' clothes, and medical equipment were burned. He was hated and detested because he brought terror and fear to everyone in the hospital"

From "Ethnographies of prostitution in contemporary China", by Zheng Tiantian, 2009.
